10 Things to Do in PEI This October

October might just be the best month to be in Prince Edward Island. With flavourful and exciting festivals, the harvest season in full swing, and Halloween just around the corner, there is plenty to add to your monthly to do list. Here is our list of things to do in PEI this month:

1. Delight in seasonal flavours

Harvest season is upon us, and the PEI Fall Flavours Food & Drink Festival is the perfect way to celebrate! With a two-week schedule full of authentic events, local ingredients, and unique experiences, there’s no better way to embrace the flavours of fall and experience what the Island’s fields and bays have to offer.

2. Get lost in a Maize

A fun family activity, or a cute date, corn mazes are a great way to get lost and make some memories.

3. Relax and unwind at Mysa Nordic Spa

Mysa Nordic Spa is open year round, but October’s crisp air and colourful foliage make it a perfect time to try out their Thermal Experience. Make it an overnight affair with their Weekday Wellness Package.

4. Celebrate fall at the Charlottetown Scarecrow Festival

Get ready for a month of fall fun as the streets of Charlottetown come alive with playful scarecrows around every corner! The Charlottetown Scarecrow Festival is the perfect way to soak in the season, with daily autumn-inspired activities and festive vibes all October long. Don’t miss special (and free to attend!) events like Farm Day in the City on October 6—PEI’s biggest outdoor market—and the lively Street Feast on October 11-12, where you can enjoy delicious eats, local drinks, and live entertainment.

5. Take the scenic route

It’s no secret that October is a truly beautiful time on PEI, and driving down a red dirt road covered by the vibrant red and yellow leaves is a glorious sight to behold. If you want to venture by foot, you can go for a hike along one of the Island’s scenic trails.

6. Embrace the spooky season

When Halloween season rolls in, so do PEI’s most chilling ghost stories and haunted attractions! Whether you’re up for heart-pounding thrills or something more family-friendly, October is packed with eerie experiences to dive into. Explore supernatural tales, take a haunted tour, or test your courage at some of the Island’s scariest spots.

7. Watch Anne of Green Gables fall in love

You can’t visit PEI without diving into the enchanting world of Anne of Green Gables! Catch Anne & Gilbert The Musical for a heartwarming journey that brings our beloved characters to life. This delightful show follows Anne as she navigates the ups and downs of life and love, all set against the stunning backdrop of our Island. Catch the show at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall in Charlottetown select days until October 15th.

8. Spend the day at a U-pick

Find the perfect pumpkin at the pumpkin patch, or frolic in an apple orchard looking for the best fruits for your apple pie. This classic fall activity is memorable and fun!

9. Close out golf season

The Island has some of the best golf Canada has to offer, and the season change makes these pristine and scenic courses all the more beautiful. It’s a great time to get a round or two in, while taking advantage of slower crowds, and end season rates! Mill River, Andersons Creek, and Glasgow Hills are all open late into October.

10. Enjoy a night out at Red Shores

Looking for a fun-filled night on the town? Red Shores Casino & Racetrack has you covered! Enjoy the thrill of live harness racing, try your luck at the casino, or kick back with their Unplugged Series featuring live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night. With three restaurants on-site, you can grab a bite and make it a full evening of entertainment. Whether you’re feeling lucky or just want to soak in the atmosphere, Red Shores is the perfect spot for an unforgettable night out.
