8 Instagram-Worthy Spots in Western PEI

Whether you’re a seasoned photographer, or just love to capture memories with your phone, there is absolutely no denying that the North Cape Coastal Drive is incredibly photogenic. With towering red cliffs, unique architecture, and breathtaking sunsets, a drive “Up West” will leave you with some great photos for your feed. Take a look at some our our favourite photo ops along the North Cape Coastal Drive to inspire your next photography adventure!

North Cape

No visit to Western PEI would be complete without seeing the natural beauty of the rugged red coastline of North Cape. Take in the sandstone cliffs, explore the beaches, and settle in to watch an incredible PEI sunset between the rock formations.

Wind Mills

Be sure to explore the North Cape Wind Energy Interpretive Centre where you can learn about PEI’s renewable energy source, before heading to the Black Marsh Nature Trail to grab some shots of the towering wind turbines dotting the horizon.

Beach Goats

What could be better than a herd of sweet, cuddly, lovable goats? A herd of sweet, cuddly, loveable, goats ON THE BEACH. With options to go paddle boarding, do some yoga, or just hang out with your new four legged bestie, the Beach Goats are sure to add a wonderful touch of whimsy to your photo album.

West Point Lighthouse

Tucked away in Cedar Dunes Provincial Park, the West Point Lighthouse is probably one of the most charming lighthouses on the Island. Its distinctive black & white stripes and the beautiful back drop of the beach makes for a great photo!

Bottle Houses

These enchanting structures, constructed of thousands of colourful recycled glass bottles, create a kaleidoscope of colours and reflections as the sunlight hits. The Bottle Houses are the perfect place to create some memories and capture some magical photos.

The Knot Beach Bar & Rentals

Summerside is home to the cutest sandbox, The Knot Beach Bar & Rentals. Grab a drink and sit at their sandy waterfront location or rent a paddle board and head to the harbour! Summerside sunsets are next level, and this is the perfect place to capture the magic.

Mill River Resort

From the moment you enter the wooded lane leading to Mill River Resort, you’re surrounded by beauty! The pristine golf course makes a great photo op while you practice your swing, and an excellent back drop as you sip cocktails on the patio. There are also beautiful trails to explore, and a sparkling river to admire.

Alpacas

The friends you’ll find at Green Gable Alpacas are as funny and photogenic as they are fluffy! Take a trip over to this working farm for an interactive and educational tour for all things alpaca, while you snap some pictures of the entertaining (and adorable) experience!
