Plan Your VisitMust-See PEI Lighthouses

Prince Edward Island is home to 63 lighthouses spread along more than 1,100 kilometres of coastline. From quiet fishing harbours to windswept headlands, these towers have stood watch over the Island’s shores for generations.

For much of PEI’s history, lighthouses were essential guides for ships navigating the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Northumberland Strait. Their lights marked safe passage into harbours and warned sailors away from shallow waters, sandbars, and rocky points along the coast.

Today, many of these lighthouses still shine as navigational aids, while others have been restored as museums, viewpoints, and community landmarks. Each one tells a small piece of the Island’s coastal story.

You’ll find them all around PEI, perched on red cliffs, standing beside working harbours, or watching quietly over long sandy beaches. Here are some of the Island’s most loved towers to explore.
