Covehead Harbour Lighthouse

Covehead Harbour Lighthouse is located within PEI National Park along the Island’s North Shore, near Covehead Wharf between Brackley Beach and Dalvay. The current lighthouse was built in 1975, replacing an earlier tower constructed in 1967.

The site includes a plaque commemorating the Yankee Gale of 1851, a devastating storm that wrecked at least 74 ships and claimed more than 150 lives along the coast.

With its red-and-white tower and views across the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Covehead Harbour Lighthouse has become one of the most photographed lighthouses on Prince Edward Island.

OPEN TO PUBLIC: This lighthouse is not open to the public.

CLIMBABLE TOWER: This lighthouse does not have a climbable tower.

AMENITIES: There is no public washroom on site. Because it is located in the National Park, there are several washrooms close by.
