10 Things To Do in PEI This May
Whether you crave fresh seafood, exhilarating entertainment, or a connection with nature, May bring a multitude of experiences to the Island for you to enjoy. Here is our list of 10 things to do on PEI this May.
1. Take on the Taco Battle
Get your taste buds ready — the Charlottetown Taco Battles are on! From May 1–10, local restaurants are putting their spin on this handheld favourite. Try as many as you can and vote for your favourite!
2. Run the Runway
Lace up your sneakers for a good cause at the YYG Runway Run on May 10. You’ll get the rare chance to run (or walk!) down the Charlottetown Airport runway in support of Make-A-Wish Canada. Don’t forget to register by May 9.
3. Go Clam Digging
Try your hand at a classic Island tradition – clam digging! Grab a bucket, shovel, and maybe some water shoes and head to shore during low tide. The best places to go are usually on the south shore, like Victoria, Pinette, or Tea Hill. Make sure to check local rules and regulations before you go. 4. Head to the races
The long-standing PEI tradition of harness racing that kicks off this month. Experience the thrill for yourself at Red Shores locations in Charlottetown beginning at May 3rd, and Summerside on May 19th. Check out their racing schedule so you can plan your day at the races!
5. Witness the beauty of Spring Flowers
Tulip season is one of PEI’s most colourful surprises. Take a scenic drive along the Points East Coastal Drive or plan a visit to Belfast Tulips (projected to open May 23), the Island’s only tulip U-pick. It’s the perfect spot for snapping photos or picking your own bouquet.
6. Head to Charlottetown’s Fave Block Party
Street Feast is back in Charlottetown, and it’s bringing food, music, and local vibes to the heart of the city on May 16–17. Come hungry and leave happy!
7. Treat Mom to Lobster
What’s better than a lobster dinner? A lobster dinner with Mom. Celebrate the day with a time-honoured Island tradition at one of PEI’s beloved lobster suppers.

8. Hit the Links
May is one of the best-kept secrets for Island golf. You’ll get early-season rates, fresh greens, and wide-open fairways at some of the top courses in the country. Tee off at Mill River, Green Gables, Andersons Creek, or Crowbush Cove — just to name a few.

9. Enjoy the uncrowded beaches
Take the opportunity to visit any one of PEI’s pristine beaches before the summer crowds arrive. Enjoy long walks on the soft sand, relax with a good book and the sound of the waves, or enjoy the sunset!

10. Meet the Alpacas
Green Gable Alpacas opens for the season on May 9, and trust us — these furry friends are worth the visit. Get up close with the animals, shop cozy alpaca products, and enjoy a peaceful farm experience in Western PEI.
