A Fun and Festive PEI Fall

Welcome to another beautiful change of seasons in PEI! As the island shifts from the vibrant blues and greens of summertime to stunning golds, reds, and oranges of autumn, we get a front row seat to watch the magic happen. But what’s even better than kicking back as the season changes is join in on the fun and festivities of fall on PEI! All season long you’ll find Islanders celebrating the bounty of autumn. So, grab a sweater and get ready for some fun!

PEI Shellfish Festival

There isn’t a place on earth better suited to hosting an International Shellfish Festival than PEI. Oysters, Mussels and Lobster take centre stage at this iconic culinary event! This 4-day estival takes place September 19th-22nd, celebrating our world-class PEI shellfish from the main venue on the Charlottetown waterfront. Grab some tickets and a fellow shellfish aficionado and enjoy a jam-packed schedule of live entertainment, competitions, demonstrations and tastings!

Farm Day in the City

Farm Day in the City may just be one of the best days of the year. On October 6th, downtown Charlottetown transforms from its normal hustle and bustle to a fall-flavoured oasis. This event feels like a true sign the season has changed as farmers, artisans, musicians, and food vendors line the streets during the Island’s largest outdoor market and street festival of the year! This is the perfect day to celebrate the season and buy local as you wander through the heart of downtown Charlottetown with a cup of warm cider in hand! Did we mention the petting zoo?

70 Mile Coastal Yard Sale

Antique hunters and deal seekers rejoice! This once wee community yard sale has grown into an epic 2-day event that attracts 40,000 bargain hunters to the Points East Coastal Drive region where hundreds of small vendors sell their wares along quaint coastal roads. Rolling PEI countryside and the chance to find the deal of the century? We’ll be there on September 21st and 22nd!

Founders Food Hall Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is coming to Charlottetown! Mark your calendars and get ready to cheers because September 28th will be a festival of food, games, music, and of course, cold beer. Gather your friends and head to Charlottetown’s newest foodie-haven, the Founders Hall Food Hall & Market, for this fantastically-fall event.

Ross Family Ceilidh

A Ross Family Ceilidh is an evening of music like you’ve never experienced. Noted for their full-throttle performances, doused in “crazy legs” and non-stop movement, you really have to see it to believe it, and thankfully you still can! Until October 2, this family act takes the stage at Clinton Hills and The Guild for nights of music and fun that you’ll be reeling about for days. If you’ve never been to a Ceilidh, this is a great place to start, and if you have, you know this is a great party!

PEI isn’t called Canada’s food island for nothing! We do food, and we do it well. And at Forage, Atlantic Canada’s premiere food tourism summit and experiential event, you’ll have the chance to dive a little deeper into the world of the delectable food that surrounds us. A weekend packed with speakers, interactive workshops, culinary celebrations to help you grow in your industry? Sounds perfect to us!

Mighty Island Chowder Trail

With fall comes everything cozy and warm and delicious… basically a time for chowder to shine! This year, all across PEI, restaurants are competing to see who has the best chowder with the Mighty Island Chowder Trail, and it’s up to you to help decide. Join this epic seafood adventure by documenting your #peichowdertrail adventure for a chance to win prizes!

Halloween Nights of Fear

What’s Halloween without a good scare? For a thrilling good time this October, gather up your group of ghouls and head to the Haunted Mansion! Test your nerve as you wander through the 1890’s mansion, each twist and turn delivering a new jolt of fright to get your heart pounding. The Haunted Mansion Nights of Fear are full of next-level scares but they turn down the fear for family-friendly tours in the afternoons.

The Wyatt House Historic Ghost Walk

If you like the thrill of a good ghost story but could do without the startles and scares, the Wyatt House Historic Ghost Walk might be your kind of Halloween fun. True stories of darker Island happenings and the history of Halloween are retold through vignettes that take place along the walk. Book this tour through the moonlit streets of Summerside in the North Cape Coastal Drive region and get ready for some hair-raising tales!

Live Racing at Red Shores

The thrill of race night on a cool autumn evening is an Island experience you won’t soon forget. Take in a live horse race from the Top of the Park at Red Shores Charlottetown or kick back for race night at the West End Bar & Grill at Red Shores Summerside. Or see if the odds are in your favour at this years Atlantic Canada’s Poker Championship on October 25th-27th!

PEI Marathon

Ok. Close your eyes. Imagine running down the dreamiest stretch of smooth road, between dunes and alongside charming harbours and sweet little villages. As you run you can feel the fresh autumn breeze through your fingers and the sound of the sea rolling against the shore is so close you can smell the ocean in the air. Open your eyes. This is not a dream. This is the PEI Marathon! If a full or half marathon feels like a world away, no sweat – the 5k and 10k runs and walks are approachable, do-able and totally scenic! Walking and running events take place in the Central Coastal Drive region from October 18-20th.

A Bounty of Fall Fun

Feel that fresh fall air as you head to Kool Breeze Farms with the family for wagon rides and pumpkin picking! We dare you to visit the Kool Breeze Haunted Farm in October (if you’re not too scared), and take your time as you walk around, over, and under all the hay bail fun, in all their fun shapes and sizes!

And who doesn’t love a U-Pick? At Arlington Orchards, they have more than just apples for a full day of fun. With guided tours, apple slingshots, bale jumps, tastings, and a Pumpkin Tower & House, this is about as fall festive as you can get!

What’s not to love about PEI in the fall? Each day is filled with beauty and more than enough activity to fill your day. And not to mention – that fresh, crisp breeze blowing through the trees, making you feel as though you’re Anne of Green Gables herself. Join in on all the season’s fun and you’ll find yourself falling in love with PEI over and over and over again!
