An Ode to the Ferry
The ferry has been a mainstay of Island life for generations. From its inception in 1941 the ferry has been a favourite mode of transportation for Islanders and visitors alike. But bringing travellers to and from Prince Edward Island is just the beginning. With spectacular sunsets, abundant marine life, the world’s best ice cream and live music, the ferry really is an experience in and of itself!
Watching a sunset while riding the waves lets you know you are heading somewhere special.
Sitting back while the ferry escorts you across the Northumberland Strait means your vacation starts a little earlier.
Play vintage card games while sitting on the Viewing Deck. The ferry adds a touch of timelessness to the journey.
Sometimes you can spot seals, or if you’re lucky – a whale!
Look out for Caribou Island Provincial park, it might inspire a future visit where you can kayak and explore it’s tropical-like beaches.
On certain days of the week you can even dig into fresh mussels. With a backdrop like this, photo ops abound!
It’s not a ferry ride without Canada’s Best Ice Cream!
You may find yourself tapping your toes from local artists from the Music on Deck.
