Plan Your Visit - BeachesTracadie Beach

Tracadie Beach is located 25 minutes (30km) from Charlottetown, just east of Stanhope Beach and the Gulfshore Parkway. Along your walk from the public parking area to the shore, you’ll see signs showing precisely where the national park boundary ends and Tracadie begins. Much like the neighbouring protected beaches – Brackley, Covehead, and Stanhope - Tracadie is a sea of soft golden sand that leads to the gently rolling waves of PEI’s north shore. But unlike the National Park beaches, you don’t need an entry pass to visit this beach, and dogs are permitted year-round.

Locals love the wide and deep beach that seems to stretch on forever. You can truly find solitude at Tracadie, even during the busiest beachgoing weeks of summer. Tracadie Beach offers breathtaking views, thanks to a long island of sand dunes just a few hundred yards offshore. The water is warm and inviting, with gentle waves ideal for a relaxing swim, but swimmers should be aware of the quick drop-off. Because the area is not within the park’s protected boundaries, visitors can enjoy the natural beauty with a bit more flexibility, though it’s still important to respect the environment and leave no trace.

Bathroom and changing-room facilities are located in the FiN Folk Food building next to the parking lot. The walk from the parking area to the shore is longer than most on the island, making it best suited to adults and families with older kids. The path is primarily soft sand that isn’t well-suited to wagons and beach carts. So, pack what you need and nothing more as you prepare to unwind in one of PEI’s most serene coastal locations.

Insider’s Tip: Tracadie Beach is a perfect spot for sunrise swims or sunset strolls, especially since there’s little natural shade during the midday sun. For a postcard-worthy view, walk to the edge of the beach at golden hour and watch as the sunlight dances off the dunes. If you're feeling hungry, FiN Folk Food, just steps from the beach, serves up fresh seafood that you can enjoy on-site or take to the shore for an oceanfront meal. Looking to extend your stay? Blackbush Beach Resort, located just across from the beach, offers luxurious accommodations in a stunning coastal setting.

Where to Find It: Located 30km from Charlottetown via PE-2 E and PE-6 N. Follow directions to Tracadie Beach Road, which will take you directly to the beach parking area.
