Thunder Cove Beach is tucked away in Darnley, just outside Kensington, and is known for its striking red sandstone formations.

Unlike many North Shore beaches with long, rolling dunes and wide stretches of sand, Thunder Cove stands out for its cliffs, sea stacks, and small cave formations shaped by wind and water. The shoreline is constantly changing, offering something a little different each time you visit.

Cliffs and dunes frame the beach, creating a dramatic backdrop for a walk along the shore. It’s a great spot to explore at low tide or spread out a blanket and listen to the waves roll in.
