New Glasgow Lobster Suppers

New Glasgow Lobster Suppers
New Glasgow

With one of Canada’s prettiest communities serving as the setting, New Glasgow Lobster Suppers promises more than a meal. This is a family business that takes pride in treating customers just like family. Located on the picturesque River Clyde with rolling green hills as the backdrop you are sure to be impressed as the plates are piled high and smiles abound.

This is the granddaddy of Island lobster suppers, having opened its doors in 1958.  It actually started as a fundraiser for a junior farmers organization. That link has never been forgotten – William and Thelma Nicholson and Sterling and Jean MacRae were part of that original group and they now have the pleasure of working beside three generations of their own families.

Start your dining experience with steaming hot rolls straight from the oven. Then move on to the appetizers- seafood chowder, soup and salads but don’t forget the heaping helping of all you can eat Island Blue mussels.

While lobster may be in their name, there are plenty of other entree options. This year, an eight-ounce steak joins a bevy of menu choices that also include scallops, salmon, chicken, ham and haddock.  For the little ones in the family, there is a children’s menu with everything from lobster to grill cheese sandwiches, which will be sure to satisfy even the fussiest of diners.

Insider’s Tip: Go hungry! Everything is so good and the appetizers and deserts are all you can eat. Make sure to leave some room for the homemade strawberry shortcake, a long-time Island favourite.
