2017 Summer Festival Roundup

Summer will soon be in full swing and that means a steady lineup of events will keep your toes tapping and your bellies full! Mark your calendars PEI. 2017 is going to be one great festival season!

Festival of Small Halls

For 2 weeks in June, lap up the lush rural surroundings of Prince Edward Island in more than 40 striking community halls, all while enjoying the hottest in home-grown talent. PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls runs from June 11 – 24, 2017.

 

Charlottetown Festival

Anne of Green Gables – The Musical (the world’s longest-running annual musical!) returns to The Charlottetown Festival this year for its 53rd season. Joining the lineup this season is the hit musical Million Dollar Quartet inspired by the true story of one unforgettable jam session that brought together the “godfathers of rock n’ roll” – Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley. On stage at The Mack this season is the world premiere of A Misfortune; and return of the Bittergirl: The Musical and Glenda’s Kitchen.

 

TD PEI Jazz & Blues Festival

The TD PEI Jazz & Blues Festival  returns this season for its 13th year of showcasing award-winning performers from across Canada. Treat yourself to the best in jazz and blues, but also soul, R&B, latin, indie pop, and rock. Concerts take place in a variety of locations, from the big tent on the waterfront to a historic church and intimate clubs in the birthplace of Confederation. The TD PEI Jazz & Blues Festival runs from June 21 – 24, 2017.

 

Cavendish Beach Music Festival

Shine up your cowboy boots for the biggest outdoor festival in Atlantic Canada. This year Cavendish Beach Music Festival is stacked with an all star line-up that includes Zac Brown Band, Little Big Town and Kip Moore. Cavendish Beach Music Festival runs from July 7 – 9, 2017.

 

Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival

The Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival was created to preserve and celebrate Prince Edward Island’s rich tradition of music. For over 4 decades this festival has drawn fans both young and old from around the world. Lineups have featured top Atlantic Canadian performers like Natalie MacMaster, Ashley MacIsaac, Richard Wood, Troy MacGillivray, Jerry Holland, The Chaisson Family, The East Pointers and many others. The Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival runs from July 14 – 16, 2017.

 

Old Home Week

Old Home Week is a 10 day long celebration of Prince Edward Island’s agricultural way of life. With the finest harness racing leading up to the acclaimed Gold Cup and Saucer race, livestock shows and amusement park rides, there’s literally something for everyone. Old Home Week runs from August 10 – 19, 2017.

 

Fall Flavours

PEI’s Fall Flavours Festival is home to some of the most unique and intimate food experiences you can find. A month of non stop authentic Island flavours, events hosted by celebrity chefs, and culinary adventures you’ll rarely find anywhere else, this festival is a must for any food lover. Fall Flavours Festival runs from September 1 – October 1, 2017.

 

PEI International Shellfish Festival

Culinary by day and kitchen party by night, the PEI International Shellfish Festival is an absolute mecca for shellfish lovers. The weekend has it all, from competitions between the world’s best oyster shuckers, to copious amounts of Island quahogs, mussels, oysters, lobster and other culinary delights. The shellfish is served up all day and night alongside Food Network personalities and East Coast entertainment. The festival runs September 14-17, 2017.
